FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH
IN NEW HAVEN
ABOUT US

OUR STORY
We are a family of faith made up of members from a wide diversity of ethnic, cultural,
and racial backgrounds. Joined together by the love of Christ, we come from Belarus and Democratic Republic of the Congo, Chile and Colombia, Guyana and Jamaica, and
throughout the United States.
Our church’s roots date back to the early days of New Haven. Carrying forward the tradition of its interracial founding, First Baptist is a living testimony to the Apostle Paul’s declaration that we are “all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). Together, we proclaim the glory of God and the reconciling power of the Gospel.
MISSION
We are a culturally diverse family joined together by faith
in Jesus Christ. We demonstrate God’s love through mutual respect, vibrant worship, warm fellowship, and reaching out to serve our neighbors in Greater New Haven and the world.
VISION
We envision a world where all experience God's transforming love,
respect one another's differences, and live together in peace and harmony.
CORE VALUES
Celebrating Diversity
We accept, embrace, and celebrate the rich cultural diversity within our congregation and broader community.
Family Love
We are a faith family that cares about one another and expresses that through actions,
not just words.
Warm Fellowship
We are a welcoming community that enjoys worshiping the Lord and extending hospitality to all.
Loving Our Neighbors
We welcome everyone in and send resources out to help our neighbors, near and far.
Vibrant Worship
We celebrate and praise God in different languages, music styles, and across cultures and generations.
Sharing Our Faith
We spread the Good News of Salvation through Jesus Christ by sharing God’s word, telling our stories, and living out our faith.
